Patch News - 11:00 PM EDT | Posted By: Brekkee

Featured Changes

  • The Matrix Online Story Continues in Episode 2.2!
The 2.2 Cinematic and Storyline missions are now available in game.

  • Pandora's Box
The Archaeologist is in Mara Central and is searching for artifacts of previous incarnations of the Matrix. Groups of players from level 35-50 are being recruited to collect items for him. Are you up to the challenge of unearthing what he's looking for? Check out Data Node One for details.

Note on "Singleton" Items: Pandora's Box also introduces a new item property: "Singleton". If an item has the Singleton property, you may only have one of that item in your Inventory at any time.

  • Coding Improvements and Changes
Many improvements have been made to the Coding (crafting) system.
    • Signal Boosters are now active. When in the effect radius of a Signal Booster, players gain a bonus to Compile Items, Repair Items, and Write Code.
    • Players no longer need to code individual fragments. After selecting an item or Ability to code, the system will automatically craft the individual fragments from Code Bits the player has.
    • Players are automatically notified what Code Bits they are missing if attempting to code an item or Ability, but don't have all the bits they need.
    • Code Bits automatically stack in the Code Archive when players enter the Loading Area.
    • Players can type /bits to see a list of how many of each type of Code Bit they have.
    • Code Crafter Ability now reduces compile time and reduces coding costs.
    • Minor Repairs Ability now reduces consumable compile time.
    • Coder is now an Activated Ability that can burn a code fragment to give a bonus to several Coder Abilities.
      • Put a copy of Coder in your hotbar
      • Select a code fragment in your Inventory
      • Activate Coder to grant a 60-second bonus to Code Writing, Decompile Item, and all Maker Abilities
The amount of bonus granted depends on the Complexity of the code fragment consumed compared to your character level.
    • Players can no longer move while the crafting UI is open. (Being attacked or drawn into Interlock will automatically close the crafting UI.)

Changes and Improvements

  • Typing /bits will list how many of each bit the character has available.
  • UI Lag 1.0 no longer requires a target as it always works in a radius around the person using it.
  • Inefficiency Field 1.0 Inner Strength Regeneration debuff is now 35%.
  • Writing a code (crafting) will now automatically attempt to create any fragments that the player is missing if possible.
  • The Patcher Ability can now be used while moving.
  • Signal boosters now work correctly and indicate when players are within their boost radii.
  • Code Crafter now reduces compile time by 25% and reduces crafting costs by 25%.
  • Minor Repairs now reduces compile time for consumables by 33%.
  • Coder is now an Activated Ability that consumes fragments selected in the player's Inventory to grant a 60-second bonus to Code Writing, Decompile Item, and all Maker Abilities. (+1 to +5 depending on Complexity of fragment and whether it is green or red.)
  • Level 30 - 39 Merovingian missions now have more variety in their bosses.
  • Gang style updates: Choppers, Demon Army, Crushers, Crossbones, and Death Merchants are all sporting new looks.
  • Agents aren't called Special Agents anymore.
  • The Big Dog has now arrived in Lamar.
  • Progress bar in crafting UIs should be more representative of the actual progress now.
  • Construct bosses now have increased Viral Deflection.
  • Players can no longer use /addwaypoint to add a waypoint to hostile players.
  • Changes have been made to the number of charges received when writing code.
  • Code bits now autostack in the Code Archive. (Note: This happens when you enter the Loading Area. If you can't upload from a Hardline, jack into the Loading Area and any unstacked code bits will re-arrange themselves.)
  • Female Security Glasses now grant +20 to Stealth (matches Male version now).
  • Interactable phones in Missions now display mission indicators.
  • Macros can now be executed using the command /macroname.
  • NPC details window now displays if an NPC has an Organization affiliation.
  • Icons for Inventory items now indicate if they have been added to a secure trade window.
  • Loot effect is now cooler and more subtle.
  • NPC details window now displays if an NPC has an Organization affiliation.
  • Icons for Inventory items now indicate if they have been added to a secure trade window.

Bug Fixes

  • Guard Breaker's chat window text now correctly says it reduces Block Tactics instead of Melee Damage Resistance.
  • Remote Proxy 5.0 now creates an Aikido Simulacrum (matches all other Remote Proxy Abilities).
  • "Aura" Abilities (ex: Combat Aura 1.0) now display chat text messages when they deactivate.

Important Account Transition InformationReturn to TopSubmit News!Visit Our Forums
Official News - 10:26 PM EDT | Posted By: Mendel

Important information regarding the transition of your Matrix Online account was mailed out today. If you didn't get the message, you can read it here. MxO players have 45 days (until September 30, 2005) to transfer their accounts. Players failing to complete the transition before then will have their accounts closed and be refunded any remaining pre-paid time. For further details, see the Transition FAQ.

Several key out of game elements have changed:

  • The game's website is now http://thematrixonline.station.sony.com. www.thematrixonline.com still works, but now redirects to this new URL.
  • The old nasty Jive based forums are gone. Their contents have been wiped out, and the system is now run by SOE's Lithium forum software. I find this to be a welcome change, as I have always admired the way the SOE Lithium forums run. Anyway, the new forums URL is: http://mxoboards.station.sony.com. You'll find everything neatly consolidated under a single board system, the long-promised dev tracker and lots more.
  • The Matrix Online support knowledgebase has been integrated into Station Support. You can search the knowledgebase and obtain chat/e-mail support at Station Support.
One sad note on the transition: support for integrated AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) has been dropped, having been replaced by in-game chat. More than likely, SOE's standard inter-game/inter-world chat will be available, which allows /tells from-to any world on any SOE MMO. This was an innovative feature and we're sorry to see it go.

One final note for those migrating their accounts: when you log on to MxO and are prompted for migration, make sure you click the "Convert my account now" button before logging on with your Station ID (if you have one already). Logging in with your Station ID first will result in being prompted for a CD key - entering you old one will yield an "Invalid Key" message.
